What kind of primer?

What kind of primer?
Is their any kinds of primer that wont work for auto paint. Will just any old primer like case ih primer work.

depends. Just remember, the better the substrate, the better the final paint. Prep work & base is NOT the place to cut corners.

After 25 yrs in the shop i wont use any thing that might cause me problems. mar-hyde makes a 2k primmer that used to run just at $100 a kit. As with any 2k primmer if you dont want primmer on it cover it or maske it off or take it out of the shop area. Like other cars tool boxs ect ect ect .

You want to make sure it is compatible with whatever you are going to use for the top paint. I messed up once using a Lacquer based primer when I was going to use Base coat - Clear coat paint… Had to do some special procedures to put the paint on to keep the lacquer from lifting everything through the paint…
You want to do the same with any spot putty you use (I learned the hard way there too)

If it Looks good and Works good then it's ok by me. Everything has its issues from time to time...
