How rare is this truck??
I have just gotten a 1967 Mercury M100 pickup truck, and am wondering how rare it actually is. It is white in colour. There is a 352 V8 backed by an automatic tranny. It is a camper special. It has the bright aluminum grille, and stainless west coast mirrors, but a painted white front bumper (seems strange). It has the mouldings around the windows and the spear trim down the side. The vehicle is all original, one owner. It has some areas of bad rust (inner fenders, cab mounts, the usual areas), but there are some amazing features of this truck. The grille is MINT (once I clean the dirt off) The bench seat is in brand new condition. The vehicle even still retains its original dealer sticker on the tailgate!!! I have attached a photo of the truck. I haven't taken delivery of the truck yet, but I had a good look at it today, and commited to taking it, so it is mine!
Thanks for your help!

I don't know much about Mercs other than theres not many of them out there, especially as this series goes. My guess would be that any sub-class, like a camper special, would be even rarer. I love mercs, only a small percent have made their way down here though.

re: How rare is this truck??
They're definitely more rare in the states than they are north of the border. From what I understand, there are now laws prohibiting the transfer of Mercury trucks from Canada to the U.S...something about Canada losing part of it's heritage or something like that....I don't specifically recall the exact wording. And I can also say I've never heard of a Merc CS, so I'd say it's defintitely worthy of saving.
Nice find! I hope you intend to shower us with pics when you get it.

re: How rare is this truck??
I definately will get an array of photos of the truck as soon as i get it! I will also give some better details as to what the truck is really all about. As soon as the owner (or should I say "Previous" Owner) gets his tractor fixed, and can tow it out of his field and up to the road, I'll get it towed to my farm and get some pics. Come to think of it, I better get over there and help him fix the tractor! I have to return some of the man's blacksmithing projects soon, so maybe I can get some "sneak Peek" photos! We'll See

Here in TX, I've never even *seen* a mercury pickup , except in
pictures... There may be a few up in the northern US, but there
aren't many down here. Just made me think of something I've never
really thought about...I wonder what they sold in Mexico...Ford or Merc?
Maybe both...MK

When I lived in Ferndale, WA (89-96) my neighbor had a Merc pickup of the 67-72 vintage (but I didn't pay that much attention to remember just what year it is exactly). From what I remember, it was really clean and a dead ringer for another neighbor's Ford of the same year. I'm sure it's still running around there.

Once I get the truck, I'll see if it is just in parts car condition, or if it is actually fixable. Hopefully it's not too far gone! Either way, I'll get some photos!

re: How rare is this truck??
A Ford fanatic I worked with in (deja' vu?) the Ferndale, WA area had me buy a mid 70's Mercury pickup for him at an abandoned vehicle auction back in the 90's. He wasn't interested in the truck other than he thought he would be gaining another 390 block for his project trucks. Turns out it had a 410 motor in it. I used my Hollanders manuals and discovered we could use the crank and a couple other parts and build him a police interceptor motor. He would have nothing to do with that and waited for me to leave so he could donate all the necessary parts to a scrapper friend of ours. Anyhow, the merc truck also went to the scrapper, so I would guess that makes your truck just a little bit rarer now.
I had the option of having the Mercury truck, but I already had a yard filled with Nash Metropolitans, Corvairs, Ramblers, and Willy's. Ferndale has a junk vehicle law and I was already being eyeballed by the local police, so I didn't take it.

Nash Metropolitans? Those are the tiny little **** things right? My Dad had one with a leopard convertable top. That thing was awesome. Every head turned when we drove down the road. That is until it finally just fell apart under him

re: How rare is this truck??
What were the differences between Mercs and Fords(pickups)?...Was it cosmetics, like the GMC/Chev trucks?....I seem to remember C!@#y selling an Acadian model for it's Canadian market, that was more or less a Malibu...
This is the point...I'm....talking about everybody! I'm talking about form! I'm talking about content! I'm talking about interrelationships! I'm talking about God, the devil, hell, heaven!!!! Do you understand???? Finally!!!!

re: How rare is this truck??
The only difference between the two really is cosmetics,as is with the pontiac acadian/nova.Their used to be quite a few of them around as well, same with the f-100's.Their all getting tired I'd say,and ending up in the pick a parts or back 40.

re: How rare is this truck??
For the 67/68 the only differance is the hood ,tailgate and fender badgeing.Ford doe's not know how many were made they were mixed in with the total ford production for that year .At a guess there was not that many 67 Merc's made due to the fact that they were made in Canada only and the 68 production stopped at the end of march for the Merc making it even a harder find .
