71 F100 Vs 75 F250

Post by hossw71SportC. »

What is the difference between a 71 f100 2wd and a 75 f250 4x4, mainly concerning the frame.
Was throwing the idea around of putting the 71 body on the 75 frame.
Heard something about the frame being wider on the 75 but don't really know.

Thanks
Hoss

Hoss, you're in luck. The frame width is the same. :) In fact the cab and front sheet metal is a bolt on.The only potential problem is the rear cab mounts. Some ( maybe all) F250 4x4's used cab mounts on the outside of the frame rails.Your F100 will have those mounts inside the rails on top of the crossmember at the rear of the cab.At worst you will have to drill a couple holes. You would have to set the bed on and see which if any of the holes align.

The frame width info you got is partially correct.Starting in 73 Ford widened the frame behind the cab from 34" to 37.5" on 4x2 and F100 4x4 trucks. The F250 4x4's used the 34" frame until mid 77 until it too was changed to 37.5".When the F350 pickups were introduced in 79 they also got the wider frame. The F350 cab & chassis models still use the 34" frame to this day. :)

There's also a difference in w.b. between bumps and dents, the bumps are 131", the dents are 133".
