Caliper bracket

Post by flyboy2610 »

I went to a salvage yard here in Lincoln today looking for disc brake caliper spindles from a mid 70's F250. They had one on hand and ordered one (off a '75 F250) from another yard in Nebraska. These are single caliper brackets from, I was told, a '73 F250. The guy said it included the spindle, cause that's how they take them off the truck. (This isn't a yard where you remove the parts. They are already pulled.) So I bought it, and ordered the other one.
When he said it included the spindle, he wasn't kidding. It is integral with the spindle, similar to F100's.
The diameter of the spindle at the rear, just in front of the 'step' is 1.3833.
I had thought the brackets on F250's were separate, or is that just for dual caliper brackets?Or is this off an F350, and if so, will it work on a '69 F250CS if I have the king pins replaced (which isn't a bad idea anyway)?
I'm wondering what I have here. :?

I have a 73 F250 with those. Its a pretty light GVWR F250, I think its around 6500-6800.

It has the smaller .8592 diameter shorter kingpin and uses F150 calipers
Old trucks, like old computers are more fun. Is the web really fun? No but its utilitarian. Spitfire, Wildcat, Fidonet, QWK and door games were FUN. The new truck works and its pretty, but compared to a bumpside or dentside, it just isn't fun.

Thanks, Blue.
I wondered about that. I also wasn't aware that in'75 Ford changed the kingpins. Looks like this one may have to go back.
Thanks again.
