Bearing or kingpin

Post by 69rangerman »

While I'm waiting on some pcs to finish the radiator/cooler install I decided to pull a front wheel. I noticed the signature wheel rock/movement when I grabbed opposite sides and pushpulled. Is there any way to determine if it's bearing vs. kingpin? Wheel spun fine.

Thanks

It's hard to describe king pin play here . grab the wheel top and bottom and move it ,if there is slack ,lay under the front of the truck and have someone move it from the top and bottom . Looking at the axle eye end of the beam ans top or bottom of the spindle eye . If you see any movement at all in the spindle on the axle eye you have king pin issues. If your still not sure if it is bearing or kp movement ,tighten your wheel bearing(just for test purposes) till you get no wiggle then move from top and bottom.
