Master cylinder and brake booster...moving

Post by GT-Racer »

What does it take to move the M/C and booster down on to the frame, like a hot rod, just to clean up the firewall and make more room. Is it even possible on our trucks?

Just a what if question, thanks....

I'd say you'd have no choice but run pedals that go down through the floorboards like old cars had. I hate those pedals. They don't feel right compared to the newer swing style.

It probably wouldn't be too hard if you could cut the whole pedal bracket assembly from an older truck.

I have seen guys use some linkage like the clutch to go to a MC on the frame rail. I would think that a hydralic boost setup would be cool hooked up that way.

If you do deside to do it I would use Good Heim joints to make sure you don't have any slop in the brake pedel.

Wilwood makes some floor mount pedal assemblies that mount a master cylinder directly to them.

Stainless Steel Brakes or Master Power Brakes might make something too. Jegs or Summitracing usually have them in the interior section.

Its going to take alot of fabrication though.
Old trucks, like old computers are more fun. Is the web really fun? No but its utilitarian. Spitfire, Wildcat, Fidonet, QWK and door games were FUN. The new truck works and its pretty, but compared to a bumpside or dentside, it just isn't fun.
