how much does it matter? tires

Post by fordman »

when you go to look at a truck for sale how much does it matter that the tires are the wrong size on the front of the truck? say one size to small instead of 235 they are 225? would it matter very much to you? would you even look at that? if they had good tread. i mean real good tread all the way around. the rear has the correct size of tires.

on a 4x2, no problem, on a 4x4. I'd be concerned

Well if on a 4x4 if they were all the same size it wouldn't matter, but if they was mismatched then I would be worried. Tires are something easily corrected next time to the tire shop.

Who said 235 was the "right size".

If the tires properly fit the wheel and it wasn't a 4x4 with mismatches sizes I would have no real problem with it.

In fact I submit that 225 is closer to the "right size" in most cases.

not a bit to me. i bought my truck with rubberbands on all four corners. the rears were off an explorer and i've got no idea what the fronts were off of, but they were small.

Well now, left out that piece of information previously... :D

That is kind of a pet peeve of mine on later model stuff. It wouldn't keep me from buying it if it was otherwise nice though.

seriously, are you needing a couple of tires? i've got the one's i took off my truck. they are like 225/60r-15s. kinda low pro, but have good tread and would look ok on the front. and the price is right @ free.

I think you should put on a set of these 54's! Or were they 56's? Can't remember, but they are big, that's for sure!

either way they are big.
largest i have ever used on a bump is 40s.

i do have a couple sets of airplane tires for my 61 f500 4x4.

buying a used car or truck i never really worried much about the size, its the wear pattern on the front i look at, and if the tread pattern dont match the rear or are brand new i am going to ask why.

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.
