re: kingping clearance
According to the 1969 Truck Shop Manual, the clearance has to be 0.001" to 0.003".
I would prefer 0.001"

Hey, Thanks for the information. I thought it would be something very small, just wasnt sure how small. Anyhow, now I know what to have mine reamed to when I get them done.

I like them reamed kinda on the tight side.
One that is just right will let the pin stay in the
spindle just from the tight fit, but still be easy to
turn. If you stick the pin in, and it falls right out,
they reamed it on the loose side. Should be tight
enough to let the pin stay with a slight friction, even
with it sitting straight up and down in the spindle.
If it will stay and not fall out, but still be easy to
grab and turn, or push out, it's dang near perfect.
