sticking brake

Post by bobogidd »

well i finally got my brakes to work but now the left front wants to
stick. new porp.valve;mastercylinder;powerbooster;lines;calipers;
rotors&pads. i have bled the crap out of the lines, bench bled m.c more than once to reassure myself all the air is removed. ther are no line leaks at all, should not be , it`s all new. the master cylinder rod adjustment is right on also. with reservior cap off i can depress the brake pedal about 1/2'' and the front reservoir will erupt the fluid (did this adjustment several times to dial it in). i have pedal pumped the air out & i have used a pump. the pump holds steady pressure when used on rear brakes. on the front disc the pressure bleeds down but is still pullin fluid but not a steady flow. press the pedal & turn the bleeder screw & the front brakes shoot a stream & no air indicated. put her on the road & this old girl will throw you through the windsheild. it pulls to the right hard (not when braking) but grabs the left front & dosent want to release the pressure. drive it a bump & it starts to release some,thats when the pulling occurs.not sure if all the air is out,i feel it shouldbe but that not assurance. never the less the brakes are far too sensitive with or without them grabbing.

Does the caliper need lubrication? I don't know what your brakes kook like, but my '83 F250 calipers were on rails that would get rusty and the brake would stick. I used to clean it up and grease it and no more dragging.

Do they slide on a track or something? That's how the 2 piston ones work. There's usually rust issues.

I had the same problem on a brand new Dodge Dakota with 30k miles on it. I put a new caliper and voila it was fixed. Just because it is new doesn't mean that it works properly.

don't take the piston out no. trade it in at the parts store where you got it.

I guess I don't know what the light duty calipers look like. Sorry to create confusion. I agree. Take it back.
