Kick out of Reverse?

Post by cghstrojan08 »

I have a 3 on the tree. When you put it in reverse, it will kick out as you go backwards. You have to kinda hold it up to make sure it doesn't go into neutral.

FWIW, I don't know about Ford's, but I've had Mopars with 3 on the tree and the fork travel and "slop" was adjustable under the hood.
Of course a wore out gear box will do that too, only I've never heard of wearing out reverse since it isn't used that often.

Should be adjustable, but I don't remember which way.

adjustment is possible but if it has been doing it for too long, the gear teeth will be worn on the edge and it may not help.

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.

So, where do I adjust it at? And what way do I turn it?
