67 Front drum brakes

Post by knonada »

I am a new owner so please forgive my ignorance. I have replaced my drum brakes, (drums, shoes, hardware kits) all the way around. I have also replaced the drivers side brake hose, (attaches @ drum to metal line) My front brakes pull hard to the drivers side now - especially when they get hot. And yes, the drivers side does seem to get hot. should I replace the brake hose on the other side and maybe replace the wheel cylinders? All suggestions are appreciated.

pulling could be two things that i can think of . brake fluid on the pads or the brakes tighter on one side than the other side.

I can speak from experience that brake fluid on the pads will cause them to pull or lock up. Double check the pads to make sure you didn't get any fluid on them.

the inside of the hose you did not replace has swelled the hole closed some thereby giving more fluid to the side with the new hose.
always replace the hoses in pairs.

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.

A common problem many people do is put the wrong pads in the wrong spot.

You need to make sure you put the leading and trailing pads in the right spot.

I havent done front drums before, so i'm not sure they are the same. But i wouldnt imagine they are any different than others
