All 67 owners WITH power brake setups

Post by farmtruckman »

I am struggling installing PB in my 67 and started thinking that the bracket holding the booster to the firewall might be a later year. If you owners have PB on your 67 and have kept it all 67 (since later years are different as explained by Fordification), please measure the distance from the booster to the firewall and let me know. That way I can see if the bracket is different. I am getting power brakes but they engage at the floor and I have pretty much exhausted all of the usual suspects. (brakes bled, no adjustments on shafts, new master cylinder/booster). Any help greatly appreciated.

Problem solved!!! Ends up that Shucks (Kragen) sold me a 68 Master Cylinder when I bought the 67 booster. For your information, they keep a record of everything sold that has a warranty so don't let wives/husbands see how much you spend on that truck. Manager of store went back and researched what I had bought and found the error. New master cylinder installed, bench bled and works like a charm. Even got the proportioning valve to center on the first try. :D Lesson learned: double check the part catalogs when they say that it is the right part.

To Fordman. The bracket dimensions are the same for the 67 and the 68-72. The brackets are slightly different in that one has a hole that doesn't do anything but other than that, the two brackets are the same. Dimension is approximately 3" from firewall to booster backside
