Master Cylinder Reservoirs-front and back
I had the impression that the rear reservoir was for the rear brakes, front was for the front brakes. I just bled my front brakes only, and the rear reservoir needed fluid (drained as I bled the brakes), not the front. Can someone educate me as to what is going on here, please?

As you've found out, it's the opposite of what you'd think. The front reservoir is for the rear brakes, the rear resevoir is for the front brakes. Most replacements now have a large rear reservoir and a small front. The large is always for the front brakes.

Thanks Keith! I am always looking to expand my knowledge of how my trucks works, and this is an interesting subject to learn about.

On my '70, the rear chamber is plumbed to the rear brakes. That's the way it was when I got it.

Sounds like you need to do some re-plumbing.

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.
