Difference in hood or hinges?

Post by xxxtina63 »

I've replaced my 67' hood with that of a 71'. The first thing I noticed was the difference in reinforcements on the hoods themselves. The second thing is the difference in hood latches, which I think is probably trivial. Third, is the placement of the hood bumpers. Now, having switched hoods, it seems as though I need shims to make the 71' hood work with the 67' body. The hood won't close with either set of rubber bumpers.

- the '71 has bumpers on all four corners. The rear two bumpers will interfere with the '67-and-early-'68 rear hood support brackets. You can either remove the rear bumpers from the hood and use the '67 rear hood support bracket, or remove the '67 hood support bracket and just use the '71 hood's rear bumpers. You can't use both.

- the hood latch receiver in the upper valance panel area is going to be different cosmetically, but has the same function, so the '71 hood should work with the '67-'68 receiver. Check out the pictures in the 'Upper Valance Panels and Lower Hood Latch Receivers' section of THIS PAGE for pictures of the differences.

- all '67-'72 F100-F350 hinges are identical
