I think the really big difference is the pressure hose, the return one is the same I think. Its been a while since I messed with it.

confusing  they worded that one strang :? .

I think what they are trying to ask is if you got a old ford pump the round style one, or a saggy that looks more like a tear drop or something off a chev. the old round ford pumps use a straight steel pipe with a fitting coming out of the pump. & the newer more common saggy pump use a cerved steel pipe and fitting on the pressure lines.

and to make things worse the threads are often different on the pump, but but you can make or buy a wetherhead adaptor to fix this little problem. for in the 300 six and sm fords you got room for either hoses for there is no real clearance problems from my experience.

and the return line is just a oil resistent rubber hose you just need to know how long you need. and don't forger the hose clamps, no point new hose with old clamps :2cents:

not my first pick for boxes really, I find them to be trouble. but still better than strong arm steering. I say go ford or go home on my trucks.

:? so what ps pump you running? because from my memory starting from the late 60's or early 70's they used a saggy ps pump on the six.

:? depends do you have round body ford pump, or a saggy?
because the 86 will have a saggy So ya the harmonic pulley should work, but the pumps have a different sized drive hole in the pulley I belive. :o

so for the pump of you got a round body or res. get a pulley off a round body pump, really any round body ones should work. but if you got a saggy pump you can in fact use the 86's pulley for sure.

what I would do is pull the pump and brackets & pulleys off the 86 truck, and the hose to. now with the bendix box I'm almost 100% sure the pressure line has a different size fitting at the box. so you got two or three options change off the fitting in the back of the pump, that would be a real pain trying to find but not impossible, or simply use a adaptor fitting on the box and the 86's pressure line. :? or use a bendix box pressure line and use a adaptor fitting at the back of the pump.

really to help ya, a person first would need to make sure what pump you got so it has the round res right?

so did I confuse the crap out of ya yet? good luck on your little project.

yea i think you could possible use the pulley's from the newer engine. but the timing marks might be different . i don't know for sure on that. as far as the ac bracket i wouldn't worry about it either. i was looking at 6 cyls today and saw the same thing on all of them three groove pulleys and only one had the a/c bracket with the pump. and it wasn't bothering anything.
