Fuel Tank Sending Unit

Post by cghstrojan08 »

Ok. My tuck has the in cab tank. I have read every post about this stuff. I have done the test and my sending units work. Yes, I have 3 that I have been working with. I have two original unit ones and one I bought from JC whitney. The two original ones (one from my tuck and one from a parts truck) I have hooked up and move the lever up and down and the gauge in the dash goes to empty and full. I bought a new float (without that piece of rubber on the end) and put it on the sending units. It seems like neither one is floating in the gas. I took the float and it floates fine in water. I know there is a difference between the two but it should float in both. I can't get anything to work right. The one from jc whitney only goes to 3/4 and 1/4. It is the correct ohms. I don't know what to do and I am not going to pay that stupid price for another one. Will a 73-79 in cab tank unit work? I really would like to get one of the old ones to work. Thanks!

try bending the float arm.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

I bent it almost all the way straight up and down and it is still not moving. It is almost like the float isn't floating in the gas. It is brand new. There isn't any gas inside the float.

Could I use a big piece of cork as a float for the sending unit?
