brake booster

Post by alvinator »

ok, i have drawn a blank here. I am installing my master cylinder and brake booster and i think i am missing something. The hole where the rod goes through the firewall, is there a rubber piece that goes around the hole? I can find anything in the garage or looking at LMC and I know that hole should not be left open like that for water or something to come in the cab. Thanks for the help and if you happen to have a pic of it, that would help too. :D

Yes, there's supposed to be a hard black plastic 'sleeve' which extends from the booster to the firewall:

I just cut a piece of felt and sandwhiched it between the firewall and bracket, with a slot cut for the rod. It should help keep the cold draft off my toes this winter :D

I haven't tired this yet, but i will have @ 4" to fill with the hydro boost. I was thinking of using a p/s rack boot, cutting it down w/ the tie rod opening around brake apply shaft. It would give me a tight seal against booster, and shaft, with, hopefully, a tight seal at the firewall.
