68 f350 brakes

68 f350 brakes
Ive been working on my 68 f350 that i found in the woods for about a month, fixed the wiring , swaped in a new engine and power steering. But I ran into a new problem. I have absolutly no brakes, the pedal feels kinda hard but the brakes do nothing. I took the front hub off to see what was going on. You push on the pedal, no movement. The cylnder dosent look like it leaks and the master cylnder isnt low on fluid after pumping the brakes. Any ideas before i go and buy all new stuff? p.s. havent bleed the brakes yet.

The wheel cylinders could be froze up,I would pull the rubber boot back on one side and push in with a screwdriver and see if they move.If they do,then Iwould think that the master cylinder might be froze up.If the truck has been sitting up for a very long time,I would invest in new wheel cylinders and a master cylinder. ![2 cents :2cents:](./images/smilies/icon_2cents.gif)

Its likely wheel cyl. but if its like the one tonnes I have had the shoes, get frozen to the drums also. And when you start playing with one tonnes brakes can get very costly, I hope your drums are in good condition. Because for the cost of replacement you can change the hole front over to disk. The last drums I got new where $225.00 a peice and special ordered.
Then there was still the combi kits at $50, Two wheel cyls at $65.00 each and shoes at over $150.00. Then the rubber hoses at over $70.00 each So by the time I was done the front it came to about $800 Canadian in parts alone. And no I didn't replace the wheel bearings. that would be like another $200.00
So the only question I got for like 300 ta 400 you can change over complety to disk. Do you really want drums because they realy are not that good.
What I recoment is caliper mounts off a 73 up 250/350 **Don't use the early stile 70-72 The calipers cost a lot more and the pins mess-up.** Use the calipers of a 79 f250/350. And depending one you wheels, For dauls some rotors of a 70 up f350 you can go all the way up in to the ealy 90's.
If you run singles disks of a 74-90s f250/350 works.

I know I've asked before, but let me get this straight. 73-79 F250 or 350 calipers and brackets will work on my F350. I'd also need hubs and rotors from a 73-79 DRW truck. How about '80's and early '90's DRW?
I may be looking for a junk '70's F350. Maybe even with a dump body.

ya the caliper and mounts is right, the mount changed after 79, but the calapers are the same one the hight pay load F250cs and F350s up to about 1990 we a looking at the 4 piston pistion caliper not the light duty single pistion.
If you got dual rear wheels on back you want the dualy roters with the hub ext. Also you can go right up to the 90's. for rotors, There the same. and on the E350 cube trucks work.
But if you got room for a extra spare tire under your truck you can use the single wheeled trucks roter F250 cs and F350.

ya you can but its not needed on the Backs, I cut myself some 3/4 steel plate and mounted a GM truck rotor and some calipers of a olds Tornado but it didn't work that well. so if you are thinking of this I would look in to a kit a lot of the 4x4 boys use them. Hill Billy 4x4 make one kit but it costs like $1500.00
