Custom built twin i beam setup??

Post by layedout72 »

Am I seeing this right that he custom built the cross bars, and used DJM drop beams? Or when they sell drop beams, is it the WHOLE thing, the actual beam and the cross bars, whatever they are called. anyone know? This opens up a good bit, as you can get a little bit better of a stance it seems....

That's the way those are, it looks like he made them out of square tubing.
I saw a guy build his own I beams for a Ford explorer on streer source mag but I don't remember his name.

are you sayin the DJM stuff comes complete like that? With the parts that he made of square tubing as well? Also, He probably used the drop beams as well right? The part that runs parrallel with the frame I mean.

edit: seems like they are the DJM drop beams. I didn't realize they put you down that low? he notched the back, so im guessing he went with the flip kit and shackle drop?

I think the price is quite reasonable considering what the kit includes, but what happened to the radius arms- did i miss something?

went back and looked again - i see now

I can't see paying 600 bucks for 3 inches. Thats my problem, no matter how perfect it may make your truck look, just can't see it.

a m2 front end will end up costing over 2 grand and your only getting another 1-3 inches,i know the price is way high but it would probably come down if there were more demand, you use the stock radius arms,i guess i got lucky when i found mine, got them on ebay with the disc brakes, dropped springs, already put together, ready to install for 350 :) ,had to drive about 6-7 hours to pick up but i think it was worth it.....

well, if i went mustangII it wouldnt be a bought setup. I would buy the stock pieces off different cars that I know work together, and build the crossmember. Also if I went MII it wouldnt be just 3 inches, I would put air ride on it (which I have already.)

thats cool, all im saying is that for a bolt on that your average person can install its not that bad of a deal, plus you could always put it back to stock incase you sell your truck or your tastes change,i feel that djm has quality parts,i have heard bad stories about the aim beams,so maybe you get what you pay for.... :2cents:

aim period is a shady company. IF I had to buy beams, it would be DJM. AIM isnt the most known for quality.

i agree with you about the beams,i did however buy my flip kit and c notch kit from them and i was very happy with the quality of the parts but not so much with the customer service, but then again its only a couple brackets and some u bolts, there probably all made in the same place anyways..... :2cents:
