Just bought 71 F100 LWB
I just bought this 71 F100 LWB Sport Custom from the orignal owner. It has 84,000 original miles. About the only things that are not original are the dual exhaust, tires, fanbelt and the underdash 8 track. The original upholstery is still in good shape. Steering wheel and driver's armrest are worn out. Every little thing on this truck still works (including the 8 track i'm told, but no tapes!) It's a 390, New Process 4 speed and 4.11 posi 9" rearend. The truck is straight with no major dents. Just some light surface rust for the most part. I did notice both fender aprons have rusted through under the hood hinges. Is that a normal rust out area? I'll probably look around for another pair if I feel it's not worth fixing mine. Nice web site. Lot's of info.

Forgot to add I paid $3,000 for it. What's the general consensus? Did I pay too much? I was so surprised at the condition of this truck and that is was the original owner when I found it that I really didn't check around much before buying it.

Welcome and I think you got an outstanding deal on your truck. Are you going to keep it original? That is a very nice example of a bumpside.
Is that an 8-track tape deck I see under the dash? That makes it even better.

to the site! Your truck is awsome! Nice and straight. I also have a the green interior and it is impossable to find replacement pieces in that color. I wonder why...

Yup, that's an 8-track under the dash. The original AM is still in the dash and still works. I'm planning on keeping it original. Thanks for all the comments.trukcrazy wrote:Welcome and I think you got an outstanding deal on your truck. Are you going to keep it original? That is a very nice example of a bumpside.

I say a genuine "STEAL". and yes, rust under the hood hinges is common. Dennis Carpenter and other aftermarketers sell inner fender replacements. It's also common to see corrosion on the inner fender under the battery tray.
Also, there are epoxy repair kits to repair the steering wheel if you want to keep it all original. I have that same green interior and it's tough to get original parts if that is your desire.
Congrats!

Where are the epoxy kits available? I would love to restore, rather than replace, my wheel.

Welcome, and I agree you got a good deal on a really nice machine. Only the people up in the pacific Northwest part of the country get better deals...apparently there are so many of these trucks up there they nearly give them away

Welcome Maxum96, Looks like you got a great truck at a good price. Sure would be nice to hear that 8track spin some tunes wouldnt it. I bet that truck only cost 4K when new. So that original owner drove it 35 years and sold it to you for 3K. That cost him about $28.57 a year. Pretty good deal I'd say for both of you.

Thanks for the compliment. I know exactly what the original owner paid. He signed over the original title to me that showed his purchase price of $3,743.
