Re: not a kick stand
hey fordman how difficult is it to replace the driver side stand? I see the 4 bolts and they look easy to get to.i believe and will unbolt the mount from block then remove the bolts from stand then jack motor up some and slide stand out..whatcha think?

Re: not a kick stand
i have my 67 almost out. it takes a 9/16 wrench and two ratchets two two 9/16 sockets and about 9 inches worth of extensions. i will never ever jack up my engine by by the balancer again. because it almost came off the other day when the balancer tried to turn on me. i am going to take my cherry picker down there and pull the engine up. this is a 351w. it almost takes two people to do it with the engine in the truck. the lower bolts are easier than the top two bolts. the steering box is in the way for the top rear bolt on mine so i have to remove it partially to get that bolt out of the hole. but i put one deep socket and ratchet on top of the bottom bolts. and one underneath with some extensions. laying on the ground i turned the bottom ratchet. it took both bolts out like that. these were greasy so it was easier to do than the top one because it was dry and rusty looking. for the top front bolt i used both sockets again. except i used a swivel joint to let the extension bar clear the bottom of the frame. my wife was holding the top ratchet while i tried and fought the nut on bottom. i couldn't keep my end straight so the swivel would work smoothly. for the rear bolt i had to use the wrench on top to get under the manual steering box. and the socket and swivel joint on bottom. that is the only bolt i have left. that is when the balancer started to turn and i quit. my rating for removing stands under these conditions are medium/hard. i guess. well if there is only one person i guess. for two people it is a medium job because the i beams are in the way to get to the nuts on bottom. but what i did was to have the engine unbolted from the stand and then i jacked up the engine before i unbolted the stand. i did that so i could have easier access with deep sockets on top. because that was the only sockets i had with me.
