The booster is for a 1972F100.
Do the bumpside booster brackets hang the booster that low? Concerned about valve cover clearance.

Re: Brake booster question
So do I need to send this back and get a dentside booster then?
http://www.fordification.com/tech/clutc ... ackets.htm
Bumpside brake pedals do not have the same bends as the dent side ones?
I think the pedal bracket in my dash is for a bumpside. Does have the aluminum bushings.
If I do have a dentside pedal, would that cause what I am seeing with the pedal being so close to the floor?
Would just getting bumpside booster brackets solve my issue? (I think it would)

Re: Brake booster question
is the dentside pedal attached in the alumn bushing? if it isnt that is anohter part of the problem. soem dentsides didnt use the bushings they were bolted in behind the orginal bushings. if it is then it can still be part of the problem because the dentside pedal has a different bolt hole location to it than the bumpside pedal. one way you might be able to solve this is to redrill the brake pedal up higher so as to push the brake pedal up towards the driver and switch more. you could also get a bumpside pedal which could help do the same thing. that much distance though i dont know if this can be fixed right. this just seems like alot but i am unsure if you can get that much distance by replacing or redrilling. i might try redrilling the bolt hole location first. or maybe the booster bracket is wrong and i can tell from the pictures. did ythe prev owner put the brackets on? where did they come from?

Re: Brake booster question
The previous owner put them on.
It looks exactly like this set up here.
From the brake/clutch pedal comparison page...

These here look to be shorter between the firewall and booster. Cant remember the thread where I found the pic tho.

Since my brackets look exactly like those, and had the cantilever linkage...maybe that bracket is longer between the firewall and the booster. Where maybe the standard bracket is shorter?Ford used two different style of vacuum booster brackets on the '73-'79 trucks, depending on the application. Usually the standard brackets were used, but in some cases they installed a cantilever-style bracket/linkage as shown in Fig. 16, which lifted the booster up several inches to clear the engine's valve covers. However, both bracket styles will fit and work with '67-'72 trucks, providing they come from a '77-older truck. The unit pictured here is a '77 unit...

Re: Brake booster question
ok i see whats going on then. the brackets are rod the flay rod type of booster. they arent correct with your kind of booster. you will want the flat rod booster or different brackets.
