I have a set of 350 spring you guys can stretch, i'd like to see that.
the springs have maybe a 1/4 in of space between coils, guess i need new ones. I just changed the rear shocks, the old one after i took them out, I held em upside down and they contracted on their own, it was like I had no shocks. Hopefully my a** will stop hitting the floor through the seat now.

My '70 doesn't even have rear shocks. Not just no shocks, but no mounts either! It still rides nicer than my '96 F250 4X4. My wife says the '70 is more comfortable than the '96. Until it we need AC, that is.
Cooltoolguy, Where in the Garden State are you? I'm about 35 miles up the Hudson from NYC.

Flatbed I also called eaton and the guy was confusededed. :hmm:
The Ford dealer asked if I was kidding.
Coilspring specialties in Kansas has not returned my call yet, been I guess 10 days.. maybe they are confused too.
But there is hope,
I called a spring shop and got an old timer, who according to the notations in his book said he had a set of springs. Moog cc828
I bought them but won't know if they work until I try them. I'll keep you updated Flatbed.

cooltoolguy,
Did he have two more? On the net, I found Dendorf Springs in freeken Canada. Emailed info, waiting for response. Also ESPO spring in Pa lists them on their website. I'll call them Monday.
It seems us 1 ton guys are a minority among older Ford truck owners. I guess most of the big ones have been worked to death by now.

Flatbed, the springs worked, they are in the truck. It was a tight fit on the bottom perches, (I believe they may really have been for the 73-79 trucks). I just installed the tops, then cranked the bottom nut, let it sit and cranked again, it did seat all the way. BTW I had to male new coils sring straps for the tops, the old ones were shot. I used 1/8" steel plate cut to match the old strap and drilled 3/8" hole and it worked perfect, looks factory. I haven't tried driving the truck yet, advance auto tried to give me a dented shock today, so still waiting to get it out of the garage, its been in there 2 weeks and its killing me. steve

I have a '70 f350 lwb flat deck and when I brake a front coil springs (yes It dose happen just because I love to over load the old girl.) I never had a problem finding springs at the spring shops.
but I'm getting cheep now so I just go to the autowreckers, & I really like the springs that I found on a 1978 E350 Budget Cube van, these springs are great but they do ride a little ruff. plus they have a higher pay load rating so I can load the hell out of my truck with out a worry. :D
I forgot to mention I got them for $25

'75-4X4 guy,
Thanks, I'll call ESPO today

Leadfoot,
Are you saying that I can use coils from a newer truck or even a van as long as they're HD ones? They are the sames size, just different weight ratings?

cooltoolguy,
You have a garage, boy am I jealous. I'm not getting a garage until after the new [censored]. Aside from the usual rust issues was changing the springs pretty easy? Need any special tools?

Flatbed,
The coils work, raised the front up 3-4 inches and now it sits level and rides very smooth. I used an impact gun and a fire wrench (for loosening bolts and cutting out the old shocks) the only problem I had was the coil spring straps were kaput. I had to make new ones.
As for the garage I built it in Dec 04 and still am finishing it. its 30x35 with a clear span and 15 ft cathedral peak ( I can fully raise the dump body and not hit the roof) have a pellet stove for heat, 100 amp service, telephone and DSL internet out there too.

I guess I'll try to find a pair of moog cc828 springs. What did you pay for them? I've gotten quotes of $250 from Kantner in NJ, and $368 plus shipping from Springworks in CA. Both were "special orders" I thought they'd be around $75.
That garage sounds great!! I'm in the driveway, under a shade tree. I do have a 18'X18" barn/workshop. Right now it's powered by an extension cord from the house. I hope to send 100 amps soon.

flatbed, cooltoolguy,

New to the site. Following your thread on the coils. I've got the same 71 F-350 HD with coils that I need to replace. Would rather not try to force some into it if possible.

Any update on source for the springs?

Thanks,
