3 piece frame

Post by marz68 »

This is what I did with the old frame, it was taking up space in the back yard so I had to cut it into 3 pieces then I gave it to the scrap metal guy.

Isn't this in violation of morals? Thou shall not kill. Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's wife. Thou shall not cut up your Ford parts and give them to the scrap guy, no matter how ugly they make your yard look?

Well, you probably don't wanna see this one then.

I finished up stripping down my '68 parts truck today, and it's headed to the scrap dealer.

I do plan on keeping the wheels, I'll remove them once it's out there. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will make it onto a trailer and back off again....'cause the rearend is just barely bolted in. I wanted to save the rear springs, so I spent the day removing them and replacing them with a broken-up set from my original '67. However, I needed to keep the U-bolts from this '68 (since they're larger diameter and longer), and I only had one pair of U-bolts left. Got one bolted in, but when I went to install the other it twisted off. So the rearend has one U-bolt on the left side, and NONE on the right...it's just sitting on the spring!

What an optimist you are Keith  you will undoubtedly get away with it, but I always crash and burn when I try something like that

I put trucks on my trailer with no rear axles or springs by
1) putting (or leaving) the truck on jackstands in front of the FWD spring perches
2) backing the trailer under the truck as far as it will go
3) setting the bumper (or rear frame on a 4x4 wood spacer) on a 3-wheeled roller I have for this (or you can use a skid plate of some kind)
4) winching the truck right onto the trailer. no engine= no weight bias to worry about.
works every time and I never have a problem this way.

I did load an F350 with no rear axle by picking the rear end up with my wrecker and turning the rig 90 degrees to the trailer and backing the trailer underneath also.
