Stepside Rear Fender Spare Tire Mount

Post by fordhombre »

I've seen these before on lots of truck, but none on a 67-72 f-100. I was flabbergasted to see this pic come up on the forum page. I've always wanted a spare mount there, however thought it wasn't a possibility because the fenders aren't cutaways.

Is this just an aftermarket possibility with cutting and drilling, or was this an actual option that I might find another fender for? My pickup is SWB, was this available only for LWB, or previous years? The stepside beds are all the same up to about '52, correct? Would these fenders interchange if I were to find one on an earlier f-100? Thanks!

I' ve check in my after market body parts book (Cheapo China brand), theres two wheel cover options one with spare mount one with out. and both are still available for 1967-72.

Stepside bed fenders are the same from like *guessing* 53-79.???
Anyway, theyre all the same. The cut-out for the spare on the left fender seems to be common. jz

Yes, that spare tire mount was a factory option for all flareside models. The 8' and 9' beds had enough room between the fender and the front of the box where the notched fender wasn't necessary, but the 6' beds needed the notched fender.

Here's a picture of the mount itself:

MAN that looks good.

How hard are these mounts and fenders to come by? I haven't started searching eBay or anything, but I don't think i've ever seen one in a junkyard. Stepsides are hard to find as it is, but maybe its just here in Central Texas?

I need a fender without the cutout on the driver side. I have the factory fender with the space for it. I don't have the bracket though.
