Upgrading tire size

Post by derrickandjodi »

:? Can anyone tell me of their modification to tire and rim size? What fits and what doesn't? I have stock rims on a 67 f100 with 235/75R15 8ply tires. I would like to go bigger if possible. Thanks,

Derrick

is it a 4x4, or 2x4, if it's a 2x4, you can sqeeze in 33's i believe, since it is a f100 maybe just 32's, on a 2wd, if you use 15" rims, you should be able to get 285/75 R15's possibly 32's. since i have a 250 my specs ain't the same as yours other wise i would tell you 16.5 rims with 35" tires

31x10.50 tires fit quite nicely on 15x10" wheels. I like the BFG/AT rubber myself.
Got em on a 70 F250 with no suspension mods. Should be just fine on a F100 as well.

You got 35" tires on your "Highboy"? Don't the fronts rub when you twist the truck?

i have 35x12.50's with 16.5" wheels on my 68 (i don't know for sure, but i think it's highboy) and they do rub pretty good when i turn hard. i've thought about trimming a little bit of the corner off the fender, cause that would make for plenty of room, but i just can't bring myelf to go hacking on this truck...

F-100's dont qualify as a Hiboy. Just F250's and F-350's.

the way to tell is look for the divorced transfer case hanging like an anchor under the middle of the truck. but there are some other things, also.
your truck has a married transfer case and sits a lot lower than a hiboy.

*unless I'm wrong on this* *Heep??*

ok, i believe you. i didn't know about the differences is transfer cases and that f-100's didn't come in the hi-boy and all that.... i just assumed that since 35's fit with no (known) lift, that it was probably a hi-boy... glad you guys are smarter than me!! :fr:

Mine's a not a highboy. I got 32"s on it. It keeps trying to make the front
fenders wider when I go over dips. You get used to the noise after a bit.
Like it though. They can roll right over a curb real nice.

Yota, even if yours isnt a hiboy, that is one nice truck!
I dont know anything about the F100's, but looking at your pics, it does have factory style lift blocks in the rear. maybe they are factory, I dunno.
I'm just trying to figure out how those 35's fit so well on your truck, and they would rub on mine. *its not fair*

i don't know man... as far as i know, everything is stock on my truck. i'm pretty sure the lift blocks are stock because of the built-in bumpstops, just like my brother's '98 F-150 has.
it could use some wheels with less backspacing in the rear (tires rub the frame a little bit on compression), and a bit of the rear corner of the front fenders trimmed off, but other than that, they fit really well.
thanks for the compliments on the truck! 8)

Hey my Brother!

Nothin' looks or performs better on a stock F100 then 31"x10.50"x15" (Flotation Tires) BFG's on 15"x8" or 8.50" wheels. Nothin'!!!
