Lets talk flareside beds

Post by wickedinhere »

I guess that's what u call it or stepside(chevy). I have a 68 f100 and the top of my bedsides are at a 90 degree angle. I keep seeing both bedsides on the 67-72 trucks 90 degree and 45 degree. MY understanding is that the 67-72 had 45 degree angles at the top and 73-79 had 90 degree tops. The only reason i ask is that i need the rear piece of the bed that bolts the bed together under the tailgate. I was wondering if that piece was the same for all years they dont have a good pic in the catalog so its hard to tell and they are priced at 80-210.

I found some more info the beds up to 72 are 49 inches wide and 73-87 are 53 inches wide. I :D measured and have the 73 and up bed as i had figured.

That's interesting. You have a "dentside" bed on a "bumpside"?

Got any pics? Is the mounting modified? Bumps are slim around here but dents are more available. My bed's good, just curious. Thanks!

It seemed to be mounted normally but i never really paid any attention because i didn't think it was the wrong bed. I just got back to working on it and getting ready to put the bed back together.
