dog lovers, i need a good argument for getting another dog. we buried sam in january and my wife is adamant about NOT getting another dog. i can't just show up with a cute furry addition to the family, i would die from eye daggers long before the dog broke her will. i need a way to make her think that she had the idea and needs a new dog. please help. ( the above picture will not help with the "pro dog" arguement). lol

How about something like this:
http://tndeathrowdogs.wordpress.com/
Not sure if ya'll have an organization like it close to you or not?
Might also want to mention that pit bull dogs make up about 60% of all dogs euthanized here in the U.S.
Also please look at all your local shelter dogs which can be found on Petfinder.com:
http://www.petfinder.com/index.html
Also have her read the Micheal Vick story, (the man is a monster-and just got another dog a few years after being told he could not):
http://www.cesarsway.com/news/dognews/To-Hell-and-Back
Far too many dogs laid down ever day to not be willing to help one out!
Can you tell I'm an avid advocate for our dogs-who can't speak for themselves!

my last two dogs were rescues. the dobie "sabrina" required a late night "prison break" to liberate. she was a bitch in a puppy mill. the most loyal and devout friend i have ever had. the lab "sam" came from a neglective house across the street from me. he did pretty good after ten years or so of "acting the fool". lol. miss them both.

My assistant mech, Peter Stinky. Yes, he's a pure-breed. Yes, he weighs 14 pounds on a good day. Yes, he's co-pilot and technical adviser in a '68 flareside, and yes, that's an '04 Super Duty in the background.
Thanks all,
Joe

And my other dog Super Jazz. I have no idea where she came from or when she'll be around. Oddly enough, Jazzie's never here to meet Super Jazz.

I thought I would give you guys a look at a "real" guard dog. Emma (yes, that is a name you give a guard dog, officially registered in the guard dog book of names) was a drop off out in front & was nothing but skin & bones when she wandered into the yard. Spoiled does not even begin to describe how this beagle lives. She had Parmesan Crusted Chicken for dinner. You know what they say "If you want the best seat in the house move the dog"

Image

We have other pics but I can't find them at the moment. Standard beagle poses like on her back sleeping with her legs up. I offered her services to a neighbor to guard his stock with a few stipulations. She has to come in at night as she is afraid of the dark. She sleeps in the bed at night. We believe she was beaten pretty good before we got her. When she first wandered up she would cower down every time we would reach down to pet her. She has gotten much better with time but still does now & then. Definitely "daddy's girl".
