1972 Ford F100 Styleside Explorer Auto 360 Research
New owner here. Just took reciept of an Ebay purchase and I'm not sure what I am sitting on. Details below with a few pictures attached. Ebay description was: "Ford F100 Styleside Explorer Auto 360 Research"
57,180 miles (could have rolled over)
F-100 2WD
Ford FE 360 cid, 8cly V8 Big Block 196 HP with 8.0:1 and 2-bbl carb
Michigan Truck L Code
Jan 1972 build
131" WB
Not sure on original color code
F-101 4,550 GVW
Style Side Code 4
Body Code 8 - Explorer
No idea on Transmission - Tranny code 'S'
Rear Axle Code 02 - Ford 3.00 - 3300#
DSO Code 23 - Memphis
Anyone have any idea on what this thing is worth and if its worth keeping and restoring? Previous owner claims it runs fine with all electrical in good condition. However, received it with dead battery and trying to get re-charged/replaced to get it started. Currently sits on the street waiting for the mail man or garbage man to hit it.

Thanks for the warm welcome fellas. Well, I finally got the thing started and running. I replaced the battery and also replaced the soleniod starter and it fired right up. Drove it around the block and was very excited; motor has deep throaty purr which is nice.
However, when I put the tranny in reverse (automatic - but shifter on column is defunct so someone put a stickshift to an auto tranny on the floor .... with no clutch! Not to sure how it works to be honest) to back it into the driveway parts fell out of the darn thing!
To be precise a bolt with an oversized washer and a lock nut came off. Reverse was gone and it appeared the transmission linkage was dangling out the bottom! Still had forward gear though.
Can anyone give me any thoughts on how to re-attach a tranny linkage? I'm not even sure what the original assembly is supposed to look like. It seems like I could just bolt the thing back together...
Also - got some clarification on the VIN from above:
Tranny code is 'G'
And original color (it is an explorer) was Light Golden Rod (yellow/tan). Can still original paint under white exterior where there are dents, etc...
Also found that the thermastat or the water pump is busted. Temp gauge shot right to HOT after 60 seconds.....
Lastly, the door latches on inside wont open the door - was scary for a second - until I realized I could just reach out and open the door through the window. A real project all in all.

...Just for clarification, this "threaded rod" looks to be a Y-shaped assembly of two threaded rods that meet at a point. It is currently dangling directly below the tranny. Also, my wife noted that at the same time I put it into reverse - the bolt fell out. The Y-shaped threaded rod also moves slightly when moving the stick to different "positions".

Congrats on the ebay purchase Ando, and from Alabama. Pictures came across small, but from the looks of it the truck looks solid. Do you know what type of Bucket seats and console are in your truck?
