Steering column 2wd vs 4wd
I think I already know the answer but thought I would check to be sure. Will a 2wd column work in a 4wd? They look different at the gear box end from what I can see. I can swap the columns if need be. Thanks for any help.

well the flange can be driven off of the 2wd shaft. and it is the same shaft after the flange has been removed. if we are talking about manual steering 2wd. saginaw power steering 2wd shaft might be too short

The column housing is the same 2wd or 4x4. The shafts are different for 2wd manual, 2wd power and 4x4. I've never had a F100 4x4 so can't comment on whether the F100 4x4 is the same as the F250 4x4 column.

Re: Steering column 2wd vs 4wd
The truck I am using is a 70 F100 2wd w/manual steering. The 68 F250 4x4 has power steering. I'm still trying to get half of the rag joint off the end of the shaft. It is on there good. It just slides on like the pitman arm right? Thanks for the help guys. I am looking to get the cab on the frame this weekend.

i couldnt find any pictures of the shaft flange removal others have done. the pictures are in their project update threads. but that i think is what you are calling the other half of the rag joint. it is splined when the flange comes off. getting the flange off is the hard part. it may be easier to swap out the center shaft between both columns.
