Power steering

Post by greenbank »

I'm maybe going to look at a '75 (I know, but at least it's close) where the owner put this in his ad:

"Power steering has a leak somewhere...I replaced the pump and checked every fitting I could reach. When there's fluid in it, it works fine to the right but not to the left...I suspect the shuttle valve in the steering box."

Any ideas? That seems a bit odd to me. :hmm:

Sounds like he's on the right track to me... overhaul time for the box.

I think it is called an actuator valve. Each side has one. hardtailjohn is correct. Time for a referb on the gear. Red-head Steering Gears does some very fine work. http://fordification.com/forum/viewtopi ... ht=redhead

or I've got a extra steering box here. used and in working order. I pulled it off my '73 when I scrapped it. PM me if interested.
In life many men take the path of righteousness, some take the path many others follow (G.M. owners, for example), some take a more arduous path, some a simpler path. I, sir, took the PSYCO-PATH!!
