rotors

Post by R.Smith »

Anybody here ever buy new rotors for a camper special? I just called Advance and they quoted me 100 bucks a piece! Seems awful high to me.

Good day R.Smith,

I don't remember how much I paid for them, but in 2008 I was able to buy Canadian-made rotors through NAPA. They had to do some extra searching for them though since it seemed like almost all rotors were made in China.

:yt: yeah most are made in china but I think bendix makes them in Brazil too. those are sapposed to be the better ones. I would check your old ones and see if they could be tunred down a little bit and re-use them.

That is about right, give or take some $$$. I agree that if your old ones can be turned within specs why not use them?

Oreilly's has them listed for 87 and 150 a piece. The 87 dollar rotors are "Brake Best Select" brand and made in canada according to the photo; the 150 dollar rotors are Wagner brand. The same part number for the Wagner rotors on Amazon.com is listed for 79 bucks. Never thought I could shop amazon for car parts like those.

I think I spent about that much when I repalced the rotors and calipers back in '06.

Make sure you're comparing apples to apples... Some places sell just the rotors. Some places sell the rotors + hubs.

Well..ordered a pair today...and pads and bearings. The rotors are Canadian. I can live withthat. 89 bucks each. The passenger side rotor is too far gone to turn.

Is that a common thing among the bumps. When I pulled my front discs off after they failed the passenger side was about 1/16th of an inch thick on the inboard side. I'm worried that I didn't fix the problem when I replaced the rotors and calipers.

your caliper was sticky. and rubbing down the rotor. it happens all the time with disc brakes.

Good to know. I was really hoping my spindle wasn't tweaked or something causing the mounting tabs to be off center.
