1967 f250 camper special
i put new tires on the truck and it drives nice, doesnt pull left or right,
but if i hit a bump the truck jerks reall hard one way or the other, any idea what causes this?
I have power steering and i can move the steering wheel 3 or 4 inches before it grabs..

Start checking the usual suspension components and their alignment: Shocks, Strut Arm Bushings, King Pins, Tie Rod Ends, Camber, Toe In.
Because twin I beams require so little maintenance, they're usually neglected.

Jack up your suspension, support it with jackstands, than start moving the various components around by hand. You're looking for anything that feels sloppy or looks obviously worn out.
Wiggle the tires from top to bottom to check king pin wear, push the tires front to back to check strut arm bushing wear.
It helps to have someone else turn the steering wheel while you're under the truck too. Listen and watch all components movement. The stuff that's bad will jump out at ya.

look at the rag joint too. it is the most easily worn part on these trucks.

Re: 1967 f250 camper special
A rag joint is the coupler that attaches the steering shaft to the steering box. It's made of multiple plies of rubber that has metal strands woven into it.
It's designed to "give" as the cab is mounted on rubber and the steering box is bolted to the chassis.
Yup... they wear out and need replacement. Be sure and get one that has the metal strap on it for your horn to work properly.

Re: 1967 f250 camper special
remove the single bolt from the bottom to release it from the steering box. then remove the two nuts from the steering flange. before you remove the last two nuts you mihgt want to loosen the steering column fromt he dash.its just two bolts. then jerk the steering column up off of the steering box. that way you can have room to get the rag joint out .
