Old Truck, New Member
Really glad to find this site. Spent hours on it looking at some really nice trucks last night. A wee bit of history on me and my truck, Rueben. I bought Rueben back in 95. It was a 1971 F 250 4 X 4 with 76000 original miles on him. I kept him and worked on him for quite a few years and then in 2006, I went out and bought a Toyota Tacoma 4 door 4 X 4 and gave Rueben to my son, Sam. At that point we were in the midst of up grading Rueben with a 390 with cam, Edelbroch carb and intake, headers, deep sump oil pan, and quite a few extras.
Sam found that the truck didn't work too well for him with his family and the money to finish it was tight so last month I got Rueben back and I am again working on an old truck. For some reason it is a lot more enjoyable and I look forward to working on him. I will get some pictures downloaded soon. It is currently on the Overland Expo site under the full size truck section. Just replaced the throwout bearing and I replaced the U joints on the jack shaft last night. Once the shaft is in, it will be back on the road and I can start working on sound proofing and getting the mats in the cab. I also need to have the seat upholstered. The engine needs to be cleaned off, but other than that, it is ready to go.
This will never be a show truck. I did the car club show thing for a few years and found it very boring. I would rather be out in the out back camping, hiking, etc. Hard to justify taking Rueben out when I have a nicely modified Tacoma but it really is fun to drive. It has a metal shell on it and I am going to re-do it for some longer trips. My wife and I did a trip through AZ, NM, CO and Utah in Rueben quite a long time ago and we still remember that trip. It was a lot of fun. We tried to stay on as many dirt or small paved roads as we could find. Anyways, looking forward to posting here.

Finally got some photos of Rueben. He is kind of boxed in by the Toyota and the Eclipse but there it sits in all it's glory.
