I need a favor fellas, I need a measurement from the column mount as illustrated below...

I currently have a measurement of seven inches... In the truck however that seems too close to the driver... (ME)... So I need to figure out if I got more cutting and welding to do...

Slight backstory: When I bought the truck the mount plate had its weld point where it attached to the column ground / drilled away. So since I had it apart to shorten it for power steering. I figured I would weld it back where it APPEARED to belong...

i got 7 inches for a power steerign column that cmae out of a 70-72 truck. the 73-79 columns i have mesured 7 1/4 power steering. the 67-69 column manual steering i have measured 7 1/4. the brackets on the 73-79 columns have longer slots on the bracket to give more adjusting length. all these columns were for automatic transmissions.
