67 1/2 sway bar?

Post by tjss75 »

Back in March I posted a question about a sway bar on a 67 1/2 ton. The responses all said to use a 73 to 78 one from a junk yard. As of yet I haven't started looking for one. But my question now is, who makes a good aftermarket sway bar that fits - a direct bolt on unit. The conversion to front power disc brakes from Master Power Brakes was advertised as a bolt on but I had to make many modifications!!! So, when they say made to fit I have doubts! Any good info on the sway bar would be appreciated.

It's just been my experience that the only 'true' no-mod bolt-on is when you use factory (or factory-authorized) parts. When the aftermarket gets involved, you take your chances....and normally don't win. The factory '73-'79 swaybar would be a true bolt-on...no modifications needed whatsoever except for four holes that would need to be drilled in the frame for the front frame mounts. But then again even with an aftermarket kit, those same holes will have to be drilled.

As for the aftermarket, I hear good things about Aadco, though it does involve some additional drilling. Check out their kit #772 at Summit Racing:

Thanks for the info. I am going to try to find a 73 - 79 truck in the junk yard to pick from. I will also check the Aadco sway bar. Thanks again.

You can get a sway bar for the back too. I put one on the front and back of my 67 f-100, it made a HUGE difference in handling...

Jegs carries both, for the same price as summit, maybe a dollar difference...
