Wheel Question
I currently have front drums on my 1/2 ton truck and will eventually do a disc swap. What is the rule for wheel clearance with disc brakes. Is it that some 15's clear the caliper or should I go 16"?

Re: Wheel Question
I don't know about others, but from what I've been told about Cragar S/S wheels, there is a clearance issue with the spokes.
As far as wheel diameter, disc brake trucks came factory with 15" wheels, so that part shouldn't be an issue unless maybe you're looking at some of the thicker aluminum wheels.
I'm sure someone else can probably better answer your question.

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

Re: Wheel Question
I've never heard of any issues with 15" rims on the 11" brakes these trucks have. I've swapped around a lot of "no name" 15" wheels that I've had laying around and there have never been any problems. But then again I've never put on any Cragar rims.

I've got a friend who posts on that "other" forum who has Cragar S/S wheels on his bump.mrtleavitt wrote:I've never heard of any issues with 15" rims on the 11" brakes these trucks have. He tried to use them on disc brakes, and they hit.
I had a set of Cragars once, on a 68 Rambler, and had to put their disc brake spacers on the front because of the design of the front drums. Those spacers were made so that you slipped them over the studs, mounted the wheel, and they used extended lug nuts to compensate for the extra thickness. I think I liked that a LOT better than the "bolt-on" type spacers that you see so often nowadays.
