When i got my '68 F250 some months ago the power steering pump whined really loud and annoyingly. After reading the information in this forum and traing to change fluid, get air out of the system etc. i ordered a repalcement pump from LMC. I installed the pump and after filling with ATF and bleeding air from the system everything was fine - for about 300 miles... Now the pump has again started whining when the motor runs at more than idle rpm and the steering wheel is turned from the middel position. The new whine started softly but has quickly increased to a point where the whine feels louder than the motor during parking or city driving.
I do not want to buy another new pump just to have the same thing happen again...is the quality of the LMC pumps so bad or is this really a general problem that i have to live with?

I think i read somewhere in this forum that it is possible to exchange the pump with a model from later Ford trucks but i am not sure what pump would be applicable. As the main issue with getting parts for my truck over here is shipping costs i would like to avoid buying stuff for experiments that do not work out in the end and could get quite expensive quickly...
Any good advice is highly appreciated!
thanks
