Well Fella's
If I do a little something every night I'm home and taking into consideration the dates are still good for the 12th & 13th November, which is critical I'm trying to secure a vacation day for the Friday prior to clean up and tie up any loose ends. If I could get out there in the shop uninterrupted for about 6 to 10 hrs I could roll it out almost where I planned to be at the end of phase one . If I can get the engine compartment squared away and street legal enough to make the trip , not sweating state inspection any more . "6my9" will be sporting vintage era correct 1969 Texas Truck tags and registered as an antique
Wish me luck and anyone that is close(dFw area)and planning a F-100, South bound I-35 cruise and or poker run for the trip down keep me posted . I think it would be great to all run down together

I am going to drive down in my ride on the morning of the Saturday the 12th.
How about anyone who wants to go down in a convoy meet up at the parking lot of "The Rig" @ 35W & Altamesa at 9:00 a.m. ??
That is if the dates are still locked in and we can get directions to final destination in Fort Hood.
I am sure that we would turn heads all the way there.

Wow cool. Too bad it is outa bounds. Maybe in a year or two i can come. The local Guard recruiter has informed me of a program that replaces the federal probation with military service. Definitely checking into that.

re: Texas/Oklahoma meet and greet......Time to start plannin
Well guys, sorry about the delays in getting some info to you on this. I talked to Chris, who was supposed to be setting everything up, but with everything that he's got going on right now in his life it completely slipped his mind. We had a preliminary discussion about the Meet & Greet last night and then talked again a few minutes ago, and tentatively, here's what we're thinking:
The M&G will be at a small rented building at Ford Hood, on the base itself on Saturday, November 12th. He says it has a large gravel parking lot in front of it for parking. You'll have to sign in at the front gate to get in, and show a driver's license and proof of insurance to get your vehicle in. In order to make this go as smoothly as possible, we're going to meet up at the local IHOP at 12 noon, get any paperwork figured out to get on base, and then once everyone who's going to come is there, we'll go into the base in a convoy. The M&G building is about a 5-minute drive away. If there are any stragglers, they'll have to call and have Chris meet them at the gate to get in.
Once there it's basically just going to be a BS session and a cookout. Between now and then we're going to try to find out if there's anything automotive-related going on in the immediate area that day, like a car show, swap meet, etc. that we could enjoy.....but I'm not going to hold my breath. Chris is going to do some asking around there too, and he'll let me know what he finds out.
I'm going to spring for the food (probably steaks) and soda pop. If you're going to enjoy a few beers you'll probably have to bring that yourself. My wife and kids will be there, so you can tell your wives or significant others that it's not just going to be a bunch of boring guys talking about boring trucks.
I just might have to bring my horseshoes and teach you all a thing or two!
Also, I'd kinda like to get a head count just so I have a basic idea who all's planning on trying to show up, so I know how much food to get. I'll probably be talking with Chris every night up until Sunday, which is when we'll be headed south to Texas, so I'll keep you all informed about what we come up with.

Hey gang, put me down as a maybe (don't put me down for any food). Father in law is in the hosp and had surgery today for blocked artery. If he recovers quickly and is doing well, I will be down. If it goes slow for him, I will need to hang around here for the mrs.
Can I get some directrons for the noon meet up or to Ft Hood gate (Chris's number)?
Thanks,
Bobby

I would come, but we're expecting a baby ourselves so the drive is too far. Doc says Wichita Falls is too far as it is, but we have to go there for work next week. This weekend we're hoping baby comes out. Due date is 11/23 but she's been in and out of the hospital trying to get the kid out for a couple weeks now. I'll prolly take her again tonight. Getting a lot of miles in my Delta 88.
I'd probably be begging her to let me go if I still had Strong Bad to drive.
