Suspension ideas

Post by bshore4 »

Starting to work on my 69 f250 this winter and need some suggestions regarding suspension. I wouls like to lower a bit and make it ride smoother and handle better. Any ideas. I have disc brakes in the front and would like to put some in the back? Good or bad idea?

you wont gain anything with discs on the back the front brakes do most of the stopping.

Read this http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... vic+diesel and I think you will get the idea and the bug to do it. I have been planning to put a Mustang II and a 4-link rear under mine for years until I read the above link. I have most everything to do mine now with the CV and the Lincoln rear end. I am planning on getting a Flaming River or a Ididit steering colmun in the next few weeks and then I can start on my project. Carcrafter has done a very cool project and has spurred many of us to do the same or similar.

A CV front crossmember is great (from what I've seen) on an F100 but I don't think it's a good idea for an F250. bshore4 has an F250.

You can do a ibeam drop in the front and 2x3x1/4 wall links in the back for strength just in case you want to tow or carry heavy loads, with bags of course.
I've seen a black f250 thats lowered on 20" low pros and it looks really good!

I bought the f250 because it was the cleanest truck i could find after looking for two years. I do not plan on towing ar hauling anything. I plan on driving it everyday in the summer. I would like a hwy cruiser that is lower and rides a little nicer. So many option though

I haven't done it but if you just want to build a good cruiser then the CV swap is the best thing going IMO so far.
