brake masters
so heres the interesting problem i have i have a 68 f100 390 2wd manual brakes stepside blah blah blah, the brake master went out and i have another 68 brake master sitting aroudn but heres the problem what came out of the truck was a 67 (as i found out trying to install the new one), whats the diffrence between a 67 and 68 mounting that im not seeing besides the rod being to long?

the rod is the only difference in those two. 67 is shorter than the 68-77 rods.

the rod has a clip on the end of it. put the one end of the rod in a vise and grab the master and give it a jerk.

ya that thing isnt budging, i bought a adjustable rod from summit (so lucky i live 5min from one LOL) since i figured it will come in handy for my power brake conversion

if you are doing power brakes. the booster comes with the correct lenght rod. all you need is a master with no rod in it to bolt to the booster.

well least i have it im just gonna stick with the manual brakes till i get some money togetehr, im still trying to get the old rod out of there its not budging an inch

its the clip holding it in the new master thats the problem been feing with it for a while and it isnt giving i think i may have to disassble the master to get it out

to dissasemmble the master i think the rod has to come out. did you peel back the rubber boot and look in there? it is a snap ring that holds the piston into the back of the master. and the rod snaps into that piston.

from what i can see there is a clip on teh push rod its self im trying to figure out how to get it out but my picks are down at the shop

heres what it looks liek with no rod in it. it is a smooth bore inside of there. from what i could see.

theres a lip in the bottom of that your not seeing, i know this becuase i got the pushrd out of the old one now im messing with the neew one its alot tighter then the olderone so im not sure if i can get it out

it was hard fo rme too se in there. i wandt sure if it had a recessed place or not. i always though there was but never really looked.
