I had my father-in-law show me how to rebuild the wheel cylinders on the front of my truck. which is a 1972 f250 sport custom. We honed out the cyliders installed the new kits and the brakes have worked great since. I have been driving the truck regularly but it has been parked for about a week. When I got in it this morning to go to work, the brake pedal went all the way to the floor. I looked under the truck and I have brake fluid on the inside of both tires! What are the odds that I would blow both cylinders at once within two months of a rebuild? I havent dug into the issue yet but I am hoping that some one loves me and decided to loosen my bleeders...LOL. Being a lifelong Ford owner and the son of a mechanic i am certianly familiar with Murphy's law. But, I am wondering if it has happened to any one else before. What are your thoughts??

Re: RH/LH wheel cylinder leak
Good afternoon Jon,
While I've never experienced anything like that before, I recently bought new wheel cylinders for the rear on my 1972 F250 with 12"x2.5" Bendix brakes. After shopping around for a decent part, I found Wager WC59240 (LH) and WC59241(RH), which are made in Italy. I paid a total of $28.89 at a local auto parts for these, including tax.
Should you be curious to look, there are lots of photos of them starting near the bottom of page 2 in this thread: 1972 F250 12"x2.5" Bendix rear drum brake rebuild: advice?
Have an excellent weekend Jon!

Re: RH/LH wheel cylinder leak
Thanks Robroy for the recommendation. I pulled the front wheels off and discovered that it was only the passenger side that was leaking. the cylinders are full of rust. I looked in the master cylinder and the resevoir is full of rust too. When I step on the brake pedal there are bubbles coming up in the front resevoir. This leads me to believe that the rear brakes are froze up. I am just going to buy new wheel cylinders and completely flush the system. Does anyone have any pointers on how to eradicate the rust?

Re: RH/LH wheel cylinder leak
replace everything in the fluid system is the best way to go. lines master and wheel cylinders. you can try to blow out the lines but the inside of the tubes still have rust in them.
