You mean the intermediate shaft? The one that has a collapsable section in it?

Like this?

Or...?

I have been eye-ing these for when I finish putting the power steering box in my truck, they collapse in a front end impact, so you dont end up with a steering wheel through your chest...

Re: what is the name for
actually i have more than one and this thread was made so that i could correctly name these pieces for sales on ebay. i have not taken pictues of them but i know what they came off of and what they fit . you can find these exact same shafts fo rthe manual steerign on our trucks on chevy trucks. kind of amazing. that they are the same but installed backwards. on a chevy.

Re: what is the name for
this is the chevy type as well as our manual type these were also used on power steering in 78/79 4wd. http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... ot#p371175
the others i have have a ragjoint on one end and a splined end on the other. i have another one from a 80-86 truck that bolts onto the oval steerign column shaft. and has the rag joint on the other end.

Re: what is the name for
All the chevy guys I know call that peticular joint a "tulip joint" however, I know theres a real name for. Actually someone else on another post here on fordification identified the joint by name. I just can't for the life of me recall what, or where. LOL Sorry... It is all part of of the intermediate shaft though, it connects the steering shaft to the steering box input. Usually have a collapsable section in them too for front impacts...
