Re: P/S pulley dimension??
your right i was thinking of a third pulley. on this so yes i have seen them.
ok when i was putting mine on my a/c truck. i had spacer issues. i kept thinking the a/c idler pulley was messign with me but it was the spacer behind the brakect that kept throwing me off. the spacers i had went the correct thickness to put the pump out far enough. once i stole soem spacers off of another setup. it worked fine.

I hate to say this as it may appear derogatory, but are you sure you installed the pulley the right way with the removal snout facing out? The reason I ask is that the backspace of the pulley is such that it could be off by as much as you indicate IF it was installed backward.
Assuming that you installed the same pulley, facing the correct direction and used the same brackets, the only option is that you installed the pulley either too far onto the PS shaft or not far enough - both of which are possible depending on the puller / installer used. The PS shaft should be flush with the outer edge of the snout.

You are mistaken, if he had installed it backwards it would be an inch and 3/16 to the rear instead of 3/16. These are very deep pulleys and installing backwards makes a significant difference. Re: P/S pulley dimension??
backwards wont work. well it kind of does. ha ha. i took a pump from a 75 motor size unknown. possibly a 360. but the pulley wouldnt line up for some reason. so i took the pulley off. and turned it around backwards. it wont line up. so i put it on barely and it kind of lined up. but since it wasnt on all the way i never trusted it. so i took the pump and pulley off of the engine and drove the truck like that. it made it fo rvery hard turning. harder than just having a manual steering box.

Re: P/S pulley dimension??
Here are a couple of pics of my setup. You can kind of see how they line up. I must say though that I put spacers (probably like 3/8") behind all three of the PS pump bracket bolts. I don't know if they are supposed to be there but that is what I had to do to get the pulleys to line up. I hope to remove those spacers some day and see if I can get the pulleys to line up. Maybe my pulley is pushed unto the shaft to far. Does that help? I haven't looked to see if my PS pulley has a number on it or not.

Re: P/S pulley dimension??
So i found the old belt, put it on and added a little tension and it ends up being back about 1/8". Looking from the passenger side it stands out more.

Form the diver side, not as bad.

Just going to add a couple washers behind the bracket to get it strait... time to move on...

Re: P/S pulley dimension??
i need to get some pulleys figured out here. i forgot what one of them came off of. and i fogot how the other one matches up with what crank pulley. the one picture with the jumper cable ends came off of my 71 F100 4wd. it had dealer air on it. the second picutre is of a 71 ps pump and bracket. and i cant remember what it came of of. it has the letters AF on the pulley. is the AF pulley correct for a 68 F100 2wd with factory intergal air and power steering? and what crank pulley matches up with the first pulley? and or does it use the dual water pump pulley?

Re: P/S pulley dimension??
ok i got the water pump pulleys figured out. it is the large of the two as i thought. i had swapped places i was storing them and that is what messed me up. i still need the info on the Af pulley. is that the correct one that will fit and line up with my factory aire setup on my 68 intergal air unit pulleys?
