core support/radiator

Post by 1971ford »

i know the highboys have a different radiator angle/bracketry, but are the core supports themselves the same as a 2wd f100? As in, can i drill the spot welds off of the brackets that mount the radiator to the core support and bolt/weld them onto my 2wd f100 core support that has already been fully stripped/restored?
Also, my boss pulled the highboy radiator off the front clip and scrapped it today :( ... Are the radiators the same? Can i put my 2wd f100 radiator onto my 2wd f100 core support using the f250 4x4 brackets to get the correct angle and looks?

good news and bad news. the good news. yes you can take the brackets off the 4wd support and put them on the 2wd support. i was going to do the whole thing until i lost my radiator brackets. so with you and me out fo the correct rasdiator brackets i took my 2wd radiator without the brackets. and put a shroud on the radiator to make mine cool right.the 4wd has a certain distance while using the brackets on the core support and the the straps on the radiator. the 2wd radaitor has different straps and doesnt line up in the same place. and cant be used with the 4wd brackets properly.

Ok, so i can put the highboy core support radiator brackets onto my 2wd f100 core support, but i still need to get a new highboy radiator, right?

I really wish he would of asked to scrap my radiator, oh well.

yes you can do that. as long as you have the brackets and the matching straps on the radiator it will work.

What straps are you referring to?

the straps on the sides of the radiator that you use to bolt the radiator to the core supoort. they will come off of a radiator with a torch. they are soldered onto the upper and lower tanks of the radiator.
