Good afternoon Ximy, DCBullet, and Fuzz, thanks for the excellent replies!

Indeed--if only I'd had the benefit of hearing the great replies before going with the OEM Dennis Carpenter part!

Fuzz, this is really an interesting point you've brought up. In my case though, there wasn't an electric motor or freezer or anything anywhere nearby the rubber parts.
fuzzier1 wrote:If so, the ozone from the motor is what is probably causing the cracking that you see.
That's fascinating--this is the first time I've heard of this!

CHEAP JUNK TIRES (Dunlaps a lot of times). I then ask, is there a freezer nearby? Yes they reply what does that have to do with anything."
I have had that conversation several times over the last 20 years at my wifes MC shop.
Wow, that sounds like it can be pretty severe with long-term, constant exposure! I'll remember this for the future.

Indeed, it's a mystery in this case! (But that's excellent information you shared--thank you).
Ximy, DCBullet, and Fuzz, thanks for your outstanding replies!
