the tires had went flat, began to rot and it was almost in the dirt on the back. On the front, one was on a block, the other has been sitting in the dirt for about 5 years (my uncle pulled the rim back then). I cleaned all the dirt out between the dust shield and drum. I'm gonna try dragging it around a bit before I start messing with the hubs again.

Worked a lot on the truck yesterday, all 4 tires installed, column and steering gear installed, rear bumper installed. I got all the hubs spinning, except the front passenger side. I beat the heck out of it for about 30 minutes. No spin. I think I'm gonna cut up the drum. I gotta try to drag it close enough to run an extension cord and my grinder. Wish me luck!

Well, I got the hub unstuck. I had to remove the bearings, and beat on the drum, in conjunction with prying on it, until The drum split a little on the side. I spread the gap a bit, then managed to get it rotating, I continued to pry and tap on it until it all came off. I yanked the shoes and put the mangled drum back on. It rolls! I used a cable puller anchored to various trees to tug it out of the pit it had sunken into over the years, now its on level ground, ready to tow out of the woods and trailer home! I'm aiming for Thursday or Friday. I'll get pics up when I get it home.

ladykiller,
Glad you got it out.

I've had to jack / put trees under wheel / lower jack for hundreds of feet before in the So. Florida swamps before finding firm footing!
Nice to have trees around!

Good lord, I thought I had it rough! I'd like to hear more of that story.

A year and a half ago, I had to go through and cut down the wall of brush, trees, briers, and poison ivy that covered the path to the truck I'm now getting. It was about 3 dump truck loads of material. I also had to fill in ruts and a ditch. I originally cleared the path to get the mountain of scrap metal that was back there.

Ladykiller,
I'd like to hear more of that story.
No you don't want to hear "the rest of the story"....

My buddy's "heavy chebby" that I had told to not follow me, in my short / light old style Bronco.
He tried to follow me! Sucked the axles under, and had the frame rails buried!
The So. Florida black marl mud is very unforgiving, we went back the next day to retrieve it!
It looked like a bomb had went off where it was stuck, once we got it out.
Shovels / chainsaws / and hi-jack = a lot of work with a hangover!

That's wild man. We got some really crazy pits around here, usually farm trails, logging trails or light line trails, but it sounds like you got us beat by a mile. My uncle did manage to sink a Silverado with 12 inch lift on 38s. He was at the beach, trying to show off. Just like your story, he saw a light truck (toyota) go through a shallow low area where the water was standing. Not to be showed up, he went in immediately after. It sunk it to the axles. The next day, when he got the wrecker there, the tide had sunk it to the front grille. The seats I have came out of that truck. He gave 'em to me years ago because the water came up half the seat back and they smelled a little weird back then, so he got new ones.

I got it today, even took pics. Too bad the camera pooped the bed. No lie, this truck is so ugly it killed the camera. My girlfriend was taking pics and all of a sudden all the pics started coming up black. Turns out the camera is now broke! The ones we got are on the memory card, but I can't get 'em off with this computer. Won't be long though. I'll get 'em up soon.
