front suspension options for street rod (ford pick up?)

Post by 77bronco_ed »

All,

I am considering an early Bronco street rod project...

The vehicle is a 1974 early Bronco 66-77 same style.
Currently it is a 4wd vehicle with dana 44 /radius arm and coil spring type suspension. I am looking to understand what front suspension options can be considered other than that of the mustang II front suspension. Is there a f100 or other 2wd vehicle that might be worth investigating?

Thanks for any alternative sugestions to the mustang II suspension.

I'd check the fullsizebronco forums.. I'm sure they would have tons of info.

Cool project, your suspension choices are limited though due to the narrow track width, the MII based kits would be the easiest, but if you dont like those you could narrow a steel crossmember from older gm's or full size fords.I have narrowed a c4 corvette crossmember that went in a 55 vette, also narrowed a 77 nova for a 37 chevy sedan, but most similar crossmembers from ford or gm would work, the biggest down fall is the steering, there are some narrow rack's made by sweet mfg for dirt trackers though, post pics of your progress and be carefull of the fullsize bronco forums most of those guys hate the idea of converting broncos to 2wd (Ive done about 5 so far,78-up models) and learned to avoid the narrow minded forums like those, thats why Im here, most everyone here will give you help, advise ,parts ,etc .Any way good luck. :fr:
