Here are my numbers...

2 1/4" wide, 51 1/2" eye to eye, roughly 3" drop, 11 leafs

On the left side, the 2nd leaf is cut up at the front eye and the right side's spring is cut at the rear perch...

Blurry pic, but shows cut 2nd leaf that is digging into #1 leaf

Right side rear perch showing another cut leaf...

Left side spring pack close-up, top 6 are "clamped" together, bottom 5 are added why? :hmm:

Yes that is basically your stock pack and someone added a bunch of leaves to handle some more weight. THe bottom 5 leaves have the characteristics of a offroad race pack being the shortness of them all, not telling where they came from though. Definately a crazy home brew pack with additional leaves added.
When you ditch these packs i might be interested in the lower 5 leaves of each pack, for a Chevy 64" pack im building for the race truck :)

Cool man, I will let you know.

Does anyone know the right dimensions for a set of 1650# 4x4 springs? Is 1650# good for what I want to use my truck for? I rarely pull a trailer, but it is never over 12' l, I would only really use the bed for moving and carrying lighter stuff, I want to use it off road in trails, back country excursions and for hunting. I'd like to lift it a little for this reason, should I look for more "free arch"? Then get 2" or 4" lift front springs? I have read that more leafs=softer feel to suspension, is this true?

The only info I have found so far is in the NPD catalog (pg 65), but they only list the 1650# springs for 2wd and the specs are:

2 1/4" width; 9 leafs; 24" short end; 28" long end; 5 1/8" free arch

These other springs are listed for other models etc, but have the same width and fore/aft dimensions BUT different weight limits and free arch:

61-64 2wd 1650# springs:

2 1/4" width; 9 leafs; 24" short end; 28" long end; 6 3/8" free arch

66-72 4wd 1250# springs:

2 1/4" width; 5/1 leafs; 24" short end; 28" long end; 7 3/8" free arch (anyone know what the 5/1 means?)

59-60 "HD" 4wd springs:

2 1/4" width; 9 leafs; 24" short end; 28" long end; 5 3/4" free arch

57-60 2wd "2 Stage, Std." springs:

2 1/4" width; 4/3 leafs; 24" short end; 28" long end; 7 3/8" free arch

Last ones: 72 2wd 1175# "Std. Shackle, Short WB" springs:

2 1/4" width; 4/1 leafs; 24" short end; 28" long end; 8 3/8" free arch

These are just the ones they list, if anyone can recommend any other dimensions, for my intended purpose, feel free. :help:

Thanks,
Doug

The Ford MPC lists the following for your application:

C6TZ 5560-N Rear Spring (2 req'd)

Width: 2-1/4"
Front (short) end: 24"
Rear (long) end: 28"
Spring pack thickness: 2-19/32"
# Leaves: 9
Leaf thickness: (1) 1/4" and (8) 9/32"

Does NOT specify free arch.

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

That's not an oil leak :nono: That's SWEAT from all that HORSEPOWER!!

more leafs means it will hold more weight, so the less bouncy it will ride empty. less springs mean less weigh can be hauled and the springs would be more bouncy. also shocks are suppose to soften your ride on any vehicle. suppose to.
