Lowering My 68
I was looking at flipping the front shackle. I read that you reuse the top 2 holes and drill 2 holes. If I'm looking at this correctly when you flip the shackle and use the top holes the holes that were on the bottom won't be against the frame once its flipped. I'm needing advise on how to do this. I want to drop the front also but don't have a lot of money in the budget. Any and all suggestions welcome. Also I'm new to the old Fords, why are they called "bumps" and "dented sides". Going to post pics later. I also have a 93 Ranger lowrider and an 86 Grand Marquis on 22". Pics later. Thanks in advance.

Re: Lowering My 68
The bumpside and dentside are just eras of ford trucks. Our 67-72 trucks are bumpsides or bumps. This is slang for the raised beltline area shape on the sides of the truck. You know, the outward V shape on the side of the truck. Dentsides or dents are 73-79 trucks. They have a lower area there that is dipped in. Slang being dentside. You will also hear of slicks. They are earlier 60s model trucks. As far as the rest of your post, I'm not much help. Maybe this will clear up that much though. I am looking forward to pics though.

Re: Lowering My 68
The rear axle was flipped. The leaf spring perches were cut from the top, then rewelded to the correct angle. I have read on here that you can just buy some blocks that are already set at an angle..so all you would have to do is put the leafs under the axle and flip the u bolts, then put the correctly angled spacers in between the axle and the leafs. That sounds like it the way to go. It would be allot easier to put it back. You can see pics of what they look like with the flipped axle method in my most recent posting. Today I added the shackles. It didn't have a noticable effect on the truck as far as the ride goes.

Re: Lowering My 68
here's the best pic i have of my hanger flip right now, no all 4 bolt holes will stay on the frame.\, you'll use one stock hole on the top and one stock hole on the bottom and drill the other 2. i had to use 6 degrees of shim to correct my pinion angel after the flip. i used the stock application
shocks with no problems.

Re: Lowering My 68
I'm thinking of trying this hanger flip. I would have to have a c-notch,due to my axle also being flipped. I wonder if it would be worth it.

Re: Lowering My 68
I lowered my bump by cutting two full coils out of my springs and flipped my rear axle over reset my pinion angle and I was cool. The front end has camber angle problems and the i beams have bottomed out under the front crossmember so I cut a slot in the member to clear the beams and no I havn't had problems with my frame.I have had problems with local mechanics not wanting to bend my beams because they say my beams will look like pretzels afterwords,I don't think so but whatever. My next thing I want to do is possibly z-ing the front clip with original springs to correct the camber, just a thought

Re: Lowering My 68
I was thinking about that the other day. Kind of like a c-notch for the front, so the beams don't hit the bump stops as easily. I haven't got under the truck to look, but that was going to be my next question this weekend. I had wondered if anyone had thought of that.
